• Form: Compact, acaulescent rosette exhibiting precise radial symmetry, with firm, spreading to slightly recurved leaves forming a sculptural, low-set star.

• Leaves: Succulent, thick, and broadly lanceolate-attenuate to retuse-deltoid, shallowly concave adaxially and distinctly keeled abaxially. Leaves taper smoothly to a sharply acute, acuminate apex, bordered by clean, smooth, and entire cartilaginous margins.

• Texture & Windows: The adaxial window facets possess an extraordinary, mirror-like luster reminiscent of polished obsidian or wet lacquer. Deeply etched, parallel longitudinal veins traverse the pellucid window surface in a clean striated arrangement, free of surface rugosity.

• Color: Deeply saturated oxblood, dark wine-red, and rich black-cherry pigmentation giving the plant its iconic oily appearance. The newly emergent central leaf displays a contrasting translucent celadon-amber window with prominent crimson striations, which swiftly transitions into opulent ruby-black as the foliage matures.
