• Leaves: Deltoid-acuminate to ovate-lanceolate, swollen, and sub-erect to slightly incurving. Each leaf tapers to a sharply defined, acute apex tipped with a darkened, persistent terminal mucro. Margins and dorsal keels are smooth, cartilaginous, and entire.
• Texture & Windows: The apical surfaces are dominated by expansive, convex fenestrations with glass-like pellucid clarity. Heavy, dark chocolate-to-blackish longitudinal striations dissect the crystal-clear windows, producing the striking, high-contrast linear pattern that defines this famous Japanese cultivar.
• Color: Luminous jade to glaucous-green window tissue contrasted by stark, melanic vein striping, accented by bright canary-yellow and golden-cream longitudinal variegation.
